well, our weekend didn't really go as planned.. :) friday we watched "we bought a zoo" and l o v e d it! such a great film! have you seen it? i wasn't even aware that it was based on a true story!
but in the night from friday/saturday matildas diarrhea got worse. between 8 am and 9 am we had to change her diaper & clothes 3 times and bathe her and it only continued throughout the day. all in all we changed her 12 times. in the afternoon i had to run some errands and Mikael took Matilda with him to his parents.
when they came home around 5.30 matilda had just woken up from the 10 minute walk and seemed tired even 15 minutes after, just wanted to lay her head on our chests and seemed to be dozing off any minute. this worried me as mikael said that she had slept for two hours previously and had woken up at 4.30. she shouldn't be this tired at 5.30 and normally isn't like this when she is tired. we gave her more to drink and even after 30 min she wasn't her ususal self.
after talking to my other sister-in-law who is also a RN we decided to drive to the ER (in sweden children under 1 have to go to the pediatric ER) and have her checked out. on the way there she seemed to get happier, maybe because i had fed her 30 min before and the nourishments helped her body to get more energy.
at the ER a nurse saw her pretty fast and matilda was happy again. we felt a bit silly now that she seemed to be fine to be there but you never know.
after the nurse saw that matilda was feeling better she still wanted a pediatrician to have a look - but it took almost 2 hours for her to come.. matilda was getting more and more tired and we just wanted to go home. the pediatrician was really nice though and once she put matildas pacifier out she said "oh, she looks just like her dad!" :) yep!
she also said that it looks like matilda has something called "rotavirus" which will go away by itself. just continue to breastfeed her often (hmm.. i was just starting to wean her off..), give her blueberry mash and carrots.
matilda even pooped all over the changing table and peed on mikael, haha :) first time for him, but i just had to laugh. "welcome to my world, my love!" :)
well, we drove home, matilda fell asleep and was already feeling much better on sunday. but what a scare!
on sunday us girls stayed at home and prepared a lovely dinner for our missionaries. and mamma forgot to document this glorious event and meal :)
but what she didn't forget was to document matilda in her jumping thingy (how do you call it in english?). my colleague sent it to us and matilda was squeaking in it and jumping up and down like a little ball.

So glad she is feeling better!
ReplyDeleteAt our house, we called that jumpy thing a Johnny Jump-up. I'm not sure what the real name is.
